Cold weather can lead to oil boiler problems

Very cold weather, which many of us have experienced at this time of year, can cause several problems for oil boiler users and it’s more important than ever to regularly check your oil boiler during the deepest, darkest days of winter.

This is according to a number of experts, including Anna-Marie DeSouza, the editor of Build It magazine, who claims that identifying and sorting small boiler issues will prevent major break-downs and costs in the future.

Small problems can occur during cold weather, such as clogged pipes and damage from falling ice and snow. Ms DeSouza explained, "Servicing your boiler and rectifying pressure issues etcetera is easier - and more cost effective - than fixing it should the whole system break down."

This advice is particularly pertinent in light of the current economic situation in which many of us are keen to put off shelling out on repairs and small home maintenance jobs until our finances are back on their feet.

Signing up to an oil boiler maintenance scheme, such as the one offered by Team Energy, can help to prevent any nasty financial surprises. They will send an OFTEC registered engineer to service your boiler and spot any weak areas that may be a precursor to problems in colder weather.
