Bournemouth leisure centre needs extra boiler power
A leisure centre in Bournemouth is in need of some more boiler power, according to reports in the Bournemouth Echo newspaper this week.
Parents of children taking swimming lessons at the centre have complained that the showers at the centre are freezing cold. One of the parents, Ian Whiteley, told the Echo: “Children emerging from lessons in the snug training pool have been facing the horror of icy cold showers in the family changing rooms.”
BH Live’s head of leisure, Peter Brown, explained that the boiler power currently available at the centre simply isn’t enough to keep the showers hot during the coldest spells of winter. He explained that money will be spent on making sure the boilers work properly, as they currently “have to work a lot harder during the colder periods.”
Public buildings, such as leisure centres, community halls and schools, which often use heating oil in their boilers, would be wise to sign up to an oil boiler maintenance scheme, such as that offered by Team Energy. Its engineers visit the site at least once a year to carry out a thorough service of the oil boilers and identify any inefficiencies or problems that could lead to cold showers come winter.
